a launch is a crowd deciding, in a few minutes, that a thing has value. a vamp is any player who reaches that crowd first — with the same ticker, a copied image, a closer name, or a faster seat on another launchpad — and takes the value without adding to it.
ask ten traders what ruins a launch and you get ten answers: i bought the wrong ticker, the picture was stolen, there were three coins with the same name, the real one launched on a different pad, i aped the copy, the caller dumped on his own call, the dev bundled forty percent, the snipers got the first block, the rugger is on his forty-third coin this week.
every one of those is the same act performed on a different scarce thing. the clone is a vamp on identity — your ticker, your image, your name, copied for zero cost, so the crowd buys a face instead of the coin. the duplicate on the next launchpad is a vamp on venue — the same hype, split across pools it can be in at once and you cannot. the caller is a vamp on attention — it owns the crowd's eyes and sells them. the sniper is a vamp on time — it pays to move before you. ten problems. one problem, wearing ten masks.
the one problem, stated plainly: at the moment of launch, the things that carry a token's value — its name, its image, its apparent support, which pool is the real one — are free to forge and impossible to verify in the seconds that decide it. this is not one bot against a pool. it is player against player, and the winning player is whoever reaches the crowd first wearing something close enough. everything in /graveyard is a patch on one mask. nothing there closed the hole.
four properties of an open launch make extraction structural, not accidental.
identity is free. a ticker is a string, an image is a file, a name is text. all three copy for nothing. when a launch is hyped, look-alikes appear in the same minute — one changed glyph, an invisible space, the same picture on a newer contract — and a terminal that sorts by ticker cannot tell the buyer which one the crowd meant. the buyer is not stupid. in the seconds that decide the launch, the information genuinely is not there yet, and the vamp is the one who chose which face to wear.
the coin can be in many venues; the buyer cannot. pump.fun, letsbonk, bags, believe, moonshot — the same hype is duplicated across launchpads within minutes, each with its own curve and its own emptier book. a defense lives on one pad. the identity is free to reappear on the next one a minute earlier, split the crowd, and arbitrage the gap between them. guarding a single launch while the coin can relaunch anywhere guards almost nothing.
wallets are anonymous. you cannot tell a vamp from a fast honest buyer by the address. a per-wallet cap turns one vamp into forty. a whitelist gets farmed. a proof-of-human gate gets solved by a human paid a fraction of a cent. any rule that assumes one body, one wallet is defeated by the thing that makes crypto crypto.
speed and information are for sale. when timing is the mask, block space and inclusion priority are auctioned, and a vamp simply buys the first move — one sandwich program alone ran 1.55 million attacks in thirty days for about $13.4M. but speed is only the mask that gets the headlines. most of the take is quieter: a crowd that bought the wrong face and never knew.
here is the cost, and it is the whole point. the liquidity a launch can draw is finite — a fixed pool of money, crowd, and attention arriving in the same few minutes. every mask splits that pool instead of filling it. the clone opens a second book on the same ticker. the twin opens a third on the next launchpad. what should have been one deep pool becomes ten shallow ones, and depth is the only thing that lets a price hold.
then it gets worse, because the vamps do not just sit in the fragments — they pump liquidity out of one and into another. the same player is in every copy at once; it buys the pool it seeded, sells into the crowd chasing it, routes the proceeds into the next duplicate, and drains that one too. one coin's book is emptied to inflate the next. the crowd supplies real money to each pool in turn; the vamp is the only party standing in all of them, moving the liquidity between them and skimming every hop.
so nothing grows. not because the idea was bad — because the support that would have made it grow was scattered across a dozen look-alikes and siphoned between them before it could ever pool. one crowd, drained through ten straws. that is the vamp problem measured in price.
